Construction is about to begin on the M-57 bridge in Chesaning. Work was expected to begin Thursday, Feb. 25. The Michigan Department of Transportation will replace the M-57 bridge over the Shiawassee River and the M-57 culvert at Deer Creek.

Traffic over the Shiawassee River will be restricted to one lane of alternating traffic, maintained with a temporary signal. Beginning Monday, April 11, M-57 will be closed at Deer Creek. Drivers are advised to follow theses detours: for Eastbound M-57: Brady St. to North Front St., then south back to M-57; and for Westbound M-57: North Front St. to Brady St., then west back to M-57.

Davis Construction, out of Lansing, is the contractor that will be working on the bridge. Equipment is set up and construction will begin soon.
