Memorial Healthcare recently received a donation to The Cancer Center from the Byron Volleyball team on Monday, Nov. 14. The freshmen, Junior Varsity and Varsity teams celebrated the moment with a meal and a tour through the facility for their sizeable $4,000 donation to the cancer center. The Byron volleyball teams raised the money by selling 2,400 volleyballs, all for a donation of $1 or more during their season. Players wore shirts during the season dedicated to someone they knew who had either survived cancer or were undergoing treatment.
On hand were staff from the Memorial Healthcare Cancer Center, as well as patients and three cancer survivors. Dr. Mahmood spoke to the team, saying, “This was very thoughtful of them, especially in this day and age. The money will be put to good use.”
