MICHELLE COLLISON is the new principal at Bryant Elementary in Owosso, taking over for Stephen Brooks, who moved to the Owosso Public School Administration Office to become the district’s curriculum director. Collison was hired by Owosso Public Schools after completing her education at Saginaw Valley State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in reading, along with a learning disability endorsement. She is beginning her 21st year in the Owosso school district.

Collison began at Washington Elementary, where she worked in the resource room, taught 1st and 2nd-grade students, and administered the TASK program for 2nd and 3rd-grade students. She then worked at Central Elementary before becoming the Title 1 reading specialist and PYP coordinator at Bryant. She is in her seventh year at Bryant.

“We will miss Mr. Brooks, but it has been a nice transition. Being familiar with the building, students and staff has helped. Mr. Brooks greatly improved our school’s technological learning tools, and I plan to continue to move our students into 21st century learning, and we will build on the traditions he established. I am also excited about working with the new elementary principal team. We have been collaborating all summer, and we are all looking forward to being #allin4Owosso,’” shared Collison.
