MACKINAC BOUND – Elizabeth Wehman, a former Independent staff writer, will be going to Mackinac Island for a book signing on Friday, July 3. She will be at The Landing Gull Gift Shop and also the The Island Bookstore. Her debut novel, “Under the Windowsill,” was published in August 2014. In August 2014, Elizabeth Wehman had the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream of writing her first novel. After four years of writing, editing and proofreading, Wehman published, “Under the Windowsill.” From that point, she has had the opportunity to do book signings throughout Shiawassee County at various libraries and bookstores. She was also a part of the Local Author Reception at the Shiawassee Arts Council during the Curwood Festival.

“Under the Windowsill” can be found on the shelves of many area gift stores and bookstores, but recently she headed north to establish her book. On her marketing tour, Wehman was able to place her book for sale in locations such as Clare, Cadillac, Petoskey, East Jordan, Traverse City and cities surrounding Mackinaw City. “Friends have sent me photos of my book on display. It gives me goose bumps every time I see it on shelves. It’s a real dream come true for me.”

One of the bookstores now selling her book has asked her to be a part of a Friday, July 3, book signing on Mackinac Island. The Island Bookstore has two locations including the island as well as Mackinaw City. Two gift shops in Mackinaw City as well as three gift shops on Mackinac Island now sell Wehman’s book.

“I’m excited to have my book for sale on the Island. The setting of it is Mackinac Island and many of the bookstores and gift shops I consulted were eager and willing to put the book on their shelves. Having the opportunity to go to the Island for a book signing event is just icing on the cake,” commented Wehman. “I also have appreciated so much support from various stores right here in Shiawassee County.”

Wehman will publish her second novel, “Promise at Daybreak,” at the end of July or beginning of August. Her genre for “Under the Windowsill” is contemporary romance as “Promise at Daybreak” is women’s contemporary fiction. Persons can find Wehman’s books on her website at www.elizabethwehman.com.
