Several special events are planned for the final week of the Every Hero Has a Story children’s summer reading program at the Durand Memorial Branch of the Shiawassee District Library. A tasting adventure, Wii day and a super hero training party are coming.

Kids are invited to a tasting adventure 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4. They can put their skills to work with a variety of jellybean flavors in a taste test game.

Another Wii Day will be 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5. Kids can drop in to play Wii sports, Super Mario Brothers, Raving Rabbids and more. All games and equipment are provided by the library.

The super hero training party will be at Trumble Park near the library 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7. Fun activities will include how to be a superhero with shield throwing, hot potato kryptonite, boulder lifting, catapulting the villains and more. Ice cream will also be served.

A superhero bounce house will be available at the party and parents will need to sign a release form for their children to participate. Forms are available in advance at the library or may be signed during the party.
