Two special events for children are scheduled this week at the Durand Memorial Branch of the Shiawassee District Library. Building a simple machine and Wii day will be held, with each activity counting towards a reading badge in the Every Hero Has a Story summer reading program.

Between 4 and 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, children can create a simple machine using inexpensive items such as cardboard, skewers and foam sheets. All materials will be provided.

Wii Day will be 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, July 16. Kids are invited to bring their friends to play Super Mario Brothers, Just Dance, Raving Rabbids and more. All Wii supplies and equipment will be provided.
