THE ANNUAL LAINGSBURG WINTERFEST event was held on Saturday, Dec. 1 with many seasonal activities that included free hot cocoa, visits with Santa, a chili cookoff, a tree lighting ceremony, a parade and more. Though the evening was damp, many people came out to enjoy all of the happenings and also visit with local merchants.

Laingsburg children participated in a new “Thoughtful Trees” decorating activity held at McClintock Park. Seven trees were decked out in various holiday themes. Scarlett, who is just 9 and a 4th-grade student, is shown in front of one of the trees her class decorated with numerous red hearts and a large Grinch head, demonstrating the idea from Dr. Seuss “that the Grinch’s small heart grew three sizes that day. And then the true meaning of Christmas came through.” The Grinch tree was awarded first place.
