The music and drama team of the Owosso Free Methodist Church will present “An Unexpected Christmas” in two services, 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, and 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 20.
This clever, light-hearted presentation combines a powerful message as presented by actors Mike Pirochta (Hank), Brenda Aymor (Alice), Tammy Sporcic (Daphne) and Jack DeLong (Greg), along with songs that share the Christmas story and message. The Mixed Ensemble includes Sue Mead, Amy Welch, Cindi Horak, Diana Webster, Pastor Mark Harmon and Lynn Webster. The children’s choir, directed by Sue Mead, will also share songs in the program.
Lynn Webster, the church’s worship leader, explains the play synopsis: “A winter storm in Michigan has left one disgruntled group of travelers stranded in a train station. Unable to do anything but stare at each other, this unlikely mix—one Christian, one doubter, one serious skeptic, and one, well, goofball—strike up a debate about the Christmas story and the miracle of Jesus. This clever, light-hearted musical combines a powerful message with contemporary songs from our Mixed Ensemble.”
Pastor Mark Kincaid and worship leader Lynn Webster invite friends in the community to attend the music/drama presentation at the church, 1249 N. Chipman. For additional information, persons may call the church, (989) 723-3695, or Webster, (989) 723-1288.
