OWOSSO MAYOR CHRIS EVELETH officially opened the 2018 Downtown Owosso Farmers Market for the season on Saturday, May 5 with the traditional ringing of the bell. However, the ceremony was held on the newly landscaped grounds of the Armory on Water Street, which is nearing completion with plans for it to open to the public on Saturday, June 9 during the 2018 Curwood Festival.
Standing just east of the historic Armory façade at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning were (from left) Curwood court member Haley Rothe, Miss Curwood Festival MaryKate Wright, DDA/OMS manager Josh Adams, Owosso Historical Commission director Robert Doran-Brockway (carrying Gizmo), Downtown Owosso Market Master Tracey Peltier, Downtown Owosso Co-Market Master Lorainne Austin, Mayor Pro Tem Sue Osika, and CVB director Kim Springsdorf. Eveleth is shown in the front.
It was estimated that the market had its largest opening day ever, including a wide assortment of vendors offering beautiful floral arrangements, fresh rhubarb, handmade soaps, and more.
