The second voting meeting for 100+ Women Who Care – Greater Durand Area is on Thursday, March 23, 7 p.m. at the Durand First United Methodist Church located at 10016 E. Newburg Rd., in Durand. Their motto is: “One hour times 100 women times $100 equals – A huge impact in our community.”
This is a group of women who are interested in supporting the local community of the Greater Durand Area (Durand, Byron, Bancroft, Lennon, Gaines, and Vernon) by contributing to local organizations together, as a unit, to increase the impact of their donation. Members are encouraged to nominate their favorite 501(c)(3) organization – three names are drawn from the “hat” to “pitch” their organization to the group. Members cast their vote and the lucky recipient is announced at the meeting.
At the group’s first meeting in September of 2016, the recipient of $6,300 was the Durand Educational Foundation. A representative of DEF will be at the March meeting to tell how our collective donation impacted their organization.
